Brothers Diego and Francesco Moser founded their winery in 1979, after years working the family vineyards in the Val di Cembra. In 1988 they built a modern cellar at Maso Warth, a 17th-century bishop's residence on the hills above Trento. Their vines grow at about 350 m around Maso Warth and at 500–650 m in the Cembra valley.
The name 51,151 honors Francesco Moser's 1984 cycling hour record in Mexico City, when he rode 51,151 meters in sixty minutes; it was also the first metodo classico the family made, that same year. This Trento DOC is made entirely from Chardonnay, from a dozen plots, with its second fermentation in the bottle and at least 15 months on the lees.
Tasting notes
It is bright straw yellow with a fine, persistent bead. White flowers, golden apple and light bread crust lead on the nose, and the palate is fresh and savory, with a mineral line and a clean finish. Enjoy it as an aperitif or with seafood starters and delicate white meats.
